Why I Started FiveKidsOneMom - The Honest Version.
I'm Aypril. Mom of five, full time educator, and someone who spent way too long waiting for the "right time" to start something of my own.
There is no right time. I know that now.
I started FiveKidsOneMom because I needed somewhere honest to land. Somewhere to talk about the chaos of raising five kids while working full time in a job I genuinely love. Somewhere to share the joy I get from spending a Saturday morning hunting through charity shops for hidden gems — the thrill of finding something brilliant for 50p and knowing exactly where it's going next.
I work in education. Every single day I pour myself into supporting young people — whether they're my own five kids at home or the students I work alongside. It's not just a job. It's who I am. Helping people grow is in my bones.
But somewhere in all of that, I forgot to build something for me.
FiveKidsOneMom is that thing.
This blog is where I'll share the thrift hauls and the Vinted wins. The budget meals and the school run chaos. The moments where everything falls apart and the moments where it all feels worth it. The honest, unfiltered reality of being a working mom who is absolutely, determinedly building something of her own.
